Research Data

Research data is defined as a factual registration (digits, texts, images, and sounds), which is used as a principal source for scientific research and is generally acknowledged by the scientific community as necessary to validate research results.

A project, led by the Research Department and the Library, was initiated in June 2021
regarding research data at IMT Mines Albi. The aim is to coordinate various research stakeholders and support services and establish a tailored service offering.

Data management plan

Data management plan is a synthetic document that helps organize and anticipate all steps of a data life cycle. It explains for each dataset how a project data is managed from creation or collecting to sharing
and archiving.

IMT Mines Albi has an institutional space DMP OPIDOR to support the scientific community in high education and research institutions (ESR) in developing a data management plan (DMP).

The writing process requires a range of cross-disciplinary skills, including researchers, engineers, computer scientists, librarians, legal experts, data protection officers (DPO), and project managers.

To train, to inform

The Library contributes to supporting the drafting of Data Management Plan (DMP), raising awareness among research stakeholders through workshops and staying updated on the latest
news, and identifying training programs related to research data.

The service offering can be complemented by self-training platforms :

training platform for URFIST, CRFCB, and INIST networks,Callisto, provides a 2-hour self-training module on data management and sharing.

A guide on best practices for research data management is available on HAL.

Finding datas and repositories

A data repository allows for the storage, dissemination, and search of research data.

There are two types of repositories:

  • Thematic repositories, which can be found on the international directory Re3data.org
  • Interdisciplinary repositories, such as Zenodo, a generalist European data repository, or Recherche Data Gouv, a national repository led by MESR (Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation).

In addition to repositories, there are search engines that index a large number of datasets from various sources:

To contact these different points of contact, IMT Mines Albi has set up a one-stop service that redirects all research data-related questions to the appropriate contact(s). Please submit your question via our form.
